Jose Luis de Jesús Miranda – Jesus Christ Man?

April 13, 2008 by: KJVOnly

Most of these notes are from Part One of the video interview that KHOU-TV (Houston, TX) did with him.
The video is on his website Growing in Grace.

He says the one living inside of him is Jesus Christ Man. As a Christian I have Christ living in me. More accurately, I have Christ living in place of me (Galatians 2:20).

Does that mean I too am Jesus Christ Man? If so, when do the checks roll in? (My creditors will certainly be happy to hear this news! :-D)

  1. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 2:20 KJV

Everyone who is truly a Christian has Christ Jesus living IN PLACE OF them. EVERY Christian has Christ living inside, so Mr. Miranda isn’t special on that count.

His purpose is to build the church? Who gave him that purpose? The Word says we are to plant seeds and water them, but God is responsible for the increase.

  1. Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
  2. I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
  3. So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

1 Corinthians 3:5-7 KJV

  1. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
  2. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
  3. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
  4. Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
  5. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
  6. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

1 Corinthians 3:10-15 KJV

The whole thing can be brought down with one statement.

His website title (and seemingly his ministry name) is Growing in Grace. The only place I can find such a verse is 2 Peter 3:18!!!!!

Excuse me? He claims he’s teaching Paul’s gospel but basing it on a verse from 2 Peter?

  1. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

2 Peter 3:18 KJV

We are supposed to grow BECAUSE of His grace, not grow IN His grace.

  1. Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
  2. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Romans 5:1-2 KJV

Paul teaches that grace is outside of us, and we stand in it. It is our security in this grace that allows us to go forward in love, not fear. We can REJOICE, not cower!

Early in the interview he dismisses 1 John 1:9, because John was sent to the circumcision. Given Galatians 2:6-9, how can he base his whole ministry on a verse from Peter?

  1. But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man’s person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:
  2. But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
  3. (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
  4. And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

Galatians 2:6-9 KJV

It is quite clear that Paul’s gospel differed from Peter, James and John’s; because Paul was sent to the Gentiles.

Mr. Miranda says that 206 is the right time for Christ to show up. Obviously, he means 2006 (two thousand and six), but there are two things wrong:

  1. Where does he get 2006 from?

  2. The time for Christ "to show up" implies that Christ left, and we know that hasn’t happened! How can he claim Christ left and Christ is in every Christian?

Also, the Rapture is not Christ returning for his people. It’s God signaling the start of the Tribulation by removing the Bride, the voice of joy and the voice of gladness. It’s a day of horror, not wonder, for anyone unsaved.

  1. Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.

Jeremiah 7:34 KJV

  1. For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.

Jeremiah 16:9 KJV

  1. And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

Revelation 18:23 KJV

Mr. Miranda’s emphasis on "the church" bothers me because he doesn’t explain it (at least so far that I’ve watched).

He knows full well most people equate "the church" with a physical building. He’s using their assumption to build his deception.

Mr. Miranda also seems to be one of these "conquerors" instead of an overcomer. Conqueror puts the focus on others. Overcomer puts the focus on yourself.

People today don’t like to think they have to overcome anything because it means their lives will have to change.

Again Mr. Miranda says he’s doing "Just what Paul said he would be doing." Mr. Miranda’s grasp of English doesn’t tell him that the statement means "Just what Paul said Paul would be doing." If he wanted to mean Christ, then Mr. Miranda needed to say Christ.

Once you bring in Paul, you change the focus of the sentence. If it had been written, then you could capitalize the word "he" and the meaning would be clearer. (Another reason the written word is FAR superior!)

Mr. Miranda preaches that Jesus destroyed Satan and sin when Jesus died on the cross. What that seems to imply is that everyone’s saved now! If Jesus destroyed sin, then no one can do any wrong.

Where Mr. Miranda goes off the tracks is that Jesus did not destroy, but paid. He paid for the sins of the world and deposited them in Hell.

Satan is still alive, and judgment is still coming. We have the Holy Spirit sealed in us as a deposit to show that our debt has been paid.

  1. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
  2. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 1:13-14 KJV

If Satan is destroyed, then the "purchased possession" doesn’t need to be redeemed.

  1. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
  2. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Ephesians 4:29-30 KJV

  1. For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
  2. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
  3. If so be that being clothed, we shall not be found naked.
  4. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
  5. Now he that wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:1-5 KJV

  1. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
  2. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
  3. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
  4. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
  5. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
  6. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?.
  7. The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
  8. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  9. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:50-58 KJV

If Satan was destroyed 2,000 years ago, then how will he be brought back to be chained in a bottomless pit for 1,000 years?

  1. And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
  2. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
  3. And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Revelation 20:1-3 KJV

Ask anyone who knows about Mr. Miranda why his followers are getting "666" tattooed on themselves? (However, they’re getting it seemingly anywhere but the right hand or forehead.)

  1. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
  2. And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
  3. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Revelation 13:16-18 KJV

  1. And I saw thrones, and they that sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Revelation 20:4 KJV

Mr. Miranda just said "Once you are in light". Interesting Occult/New Age reference. We’re almost three minutes into Part 1 of the interview and he hasn’t quoted one verse yet.

Why?

Just some general notes:

  1. Who did this interview?

  2. What were the terms?

  3. Was the interviewer given the questions to ask so that Mr. Miranda would be sure to have all the answers?

Again Mr. Miranda’s English misleads. He says "Paul is teaching what happened after he died. After he died there is no sin."

This is just like the makers of modern Bibles, using pronouns to mislead people. They say people will know who the pronouns refer to, but how can the people know that?

I presume the makers of modern Bibles are saying because people have grown up with the King James Bible, the modern ones don’t have to spell it out as explicitly.

What about the next generation who have only heard how bad the King James Bible is?

This is from the Feb. 5th, 2007 Newsweek article:

Two years ago at Growing in Grace’s world convention in Venezuela, he declared himself Christ. And just last week, he called himself the Antichrist and revealed a "666" tattooed on his forearm. His explanation: that, as the second coming of Christ, he rejects the continued worship of Jesus of Nazareth.

Mr. Miranda misses all kinds of things about the timeline of the Antichrist. How can he be Christ and another Christ at the same time?

Mr. Miranda misses that Jesus did everything to glorify His Father. Mr. Miranda is out to glorify himself. Big difference!

  1. These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
  2. As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

John 17:1-2 KJV

  1. Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

John 5:19 KJV

Also from the Newsweek article:

All members of Growing in Grace are expected to tithe which, along with offerings, yielded $1.4 million for headquarters last year. One of the first orders of business at every service is the collection of money (credit cards accepted). Those who have pledged their businesses to de Jesús donate much more.

Where does he get that? Paul doesn’t mention tithing ONCE! If you look up any form of the word "tithe", it jumps from Luke to Hebrews. Paul mentions giving cheerfully, not out of necessity. If you give what you can’t afford, you start resenting the gift and the recipient.

  1. Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.
  2. But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall also reap bountifully.
  3. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:5-7 KJV

Mr. Miranda just answered why he’s using Hebrews. Because Paul wrote it also (according to Mr. Miranda), Mr. Miranda figures it applies just like Romans-Philemon does.

Yet Mr. Miranda does not understand the difference between Hebrews and the rest, or indeed that you even have to rightly divide Paul’s writings!

Mr. Miranda says he also preaches that there are angels to serve us. Where does he get that?

Another thing he says is "God says ‘I already did it for you! I gave you the Book, I died for you. What else do you want?’" as if that’s why God did everything, for US.

God did what He did (and continues to do) for Himself! He gave us the Book and died for us because we’re ABSOLUTELY NOT CAPABLE of doing anything for ourselves! (See Job 9:20, Psalms 51:4, Romans 3:19-20, Romans 4:2-3 and Galatians 2:16-17 just for starters.)

  1. If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.

Job 9:20 KJV

  1. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

Psalm 51:4 KJV

  1. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them that are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
  2. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Romans 3:19-20 KJV

  1. For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
  2. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Romans 4:2-3 KJV

  1. Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
  2. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

Galatians 2:16-17 KJV

Mr. Miranda is using Luke 12:8 to justify his angels beliefs.

  1. Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God.

Luke 12:8 KJV

How can he use that and claim he’s rejecting Jesus of Nazareth AND that he’s teaching Paul’s gospel? Unbelievable!

  1. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
  2. God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
  3. Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
  4. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
  5. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.
  6. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
  7. For he that is dead is freed from sin.

Romans 6:1-7 KJV

Mr. Miranda also hasn’t studied "angels of God" very well. Matthew 10:32 says "confess before my Father which is in heaven."

  1. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 10:32 KJV

Given what I’ve already studied, "angels of God" is a very limited subset of angels and indeed seems to be God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit only! (See Judges 6:21-22, Judges 13:6 and Judges 13:15-22.)

  1. Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.
  2. And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.

Judges 6:21-22 KJV

  1. Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told me his name.

Judges 13:6 KJV

  1. And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.
  2. And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread: and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering, thou must offer it unto the LORD. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the LORD.
  3. And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?
  4. And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou after my name, seeing it is secret?
  5. So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and the angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.
  6. For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.
  7. But the angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the LORD.
  8. And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

Judges 13:15-22 KJV

Seeing an angel of God meant you’d seen God Himself and you were going to die! What Matthew 10:32 and Luke 12:8 are saying is that Jesus will confess you before His Father so that you won’t receive your rightful judgment and punishment!

Anyone that this applies to (not us) should be falling at Jesus’ feet in gratitude and trembling, not puffing themselves up and saying it puts God at their beck and call!

Mr. Miranda says he’s growing in stages, that he used to do the work of the Apostle Paul and people still call him "apostle"

(Interesting how sometimes he says "apostle" and sometimes "apos-tle" with emphasis on the T. Not sure what to make of that.)

I guess he gets that from Hebrews 3:1-2.

  1. Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
  2. Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

Hebrews 3:1-2 KJV

Yet we have no apostles today except for Paul. He’s the apostle to the Gentiles!

  1. For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
  2. If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
  3. For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

Romans 11:13-15 KJV

  1. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
  2. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
  3. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
  4. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Galatians 1:6-9 KJV

It also smacks strongly of the modern desire to move up to Godhood. People think they can improve, unleash hidden talents or reincarnate and eventually they will become God.

Mr. Miranda’s statements are right in line with that kind of thinking, that it’s entirely up to Mr. Miranda whether he becomes God or not.

Still think Mr. Miranda is honoring God with his statements?

Mr. Miranda says that he is here to establish the government that Jesus Christ will set up when He returns. HOWEVER, Mr. Miranda can’t do that yet because his corruptible body hasn’t been made incorruptible. He actually says that one day his body will just change and then he can start setting up the government.

He is totally wrong because our bodies will change when we are TAKEN OUT OF HERE, OFF THE EARTH! (1 Thessalonians 4:15-18) We will be on the Earth with new bodies ONLY when we return with Christ!

  1. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
  2. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
  3. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
  4. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 KJV

Just finished the first part of the interview. Looking at his website, one of the claims is "As the last manifestation of God in flesh…" Where does he get that from? He claims to be preaching Paul’s gospel but I haven’t read that God will become flesh a second time!

  1. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

1 Corinthians 15:22 KJV

  1. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
  2. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
  3. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
  4. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
  5. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
  6. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

1 Corinthians 15:45-50 KJV

The below quote is from a Houston Press article.

There are big differences between himself and the likes of David Koresh or Jim Jones, he says. "Number one: They didn’t have the gospel of uncircumcision, which caused fear. We preach a different gospel. And number two: My people are too wise. Whatever I say to them, they say, ‘Where is that written?’?

Apparently it’s written somewhere that other faiths should be protested. Loudly. More than 80 followers of De Jesús showed up at a Protestant festival in Miami last November, shouting and holding signs that read, "Your pastor lies" and "The devil was destroyed." His followers have disrupted church services in Havana and orchestrated simultaneous protests in 22 Colombian cities. All told, there have been actions in more than a dozen countries.

I find it interesting that he says his followers challenge his teachings, but I’ve gone through the interview and only heard one specific verse quoted: Romans 10:4. Every other time it’s "The Bible says" or "In Hebrews", or some such.

This is also from the article. Notice the womanizing of the men of his leadership.

De Jesús moved to Missouri City a few months ago. Miami was too crowded and he preferred somewhere quieter, he says, neglecting to mention that two of his administrators recently divorced their wives for other women, a breakdown that could help explain what is generally accepted to be a slow decline in Miami membership.

To summarize, this man is NOT the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

IF he is a Christian, he has Christ living in him as does every Christian. There is nothing this man is supposed to do other than what EVERY Christian is supposed to do.

Read the King James Bible rightly divided and you’ll see to follow Christ through Paul, not Jose Luis de Jesús Miranda.
