Gospel of John 17:14-26

We finish chapter 17, seeing if any of what Jesus told the disciples is applicable to us today. We certainly see he was referring to the Great Commission and all the hatred the disciples were going to encounter.

However, are we to be subjected to the same hatred as they; or is the King James Bible what they really hate?

Maybe both?

How are we kept?

We are one with the Trinity?

How do we have Jesus' joy in ourselves - even when times are tough?

Answer: Through Paul, of course - but what does that mean?

Jesus didn't pray for the world? Does that mean that God doesn't love everyone like all the modern Christians think?

Is God's judgment really God's hatred towards the lost?

Jesus prayed for his own, so how did Paul pray for his own?

Again, what does Paul tell us to do concerning those that are against the teachings of the Risen Christ? Gospel of John 17:5-8

These verses have great application FOR us today.

The very same way Jesus thought towards the men God had given him is the way He thinks of us today.

We look at the voice of God today - we look at 'keeping' his word and what that means - we also look at the importance of deity again - and again - and we look at how all this is applicable to a King James Bible today.

What is Christ's finished work and what is His unfinished work?

Many folks think that Jesus Christ is all done with what he had to do - WRONG!

I wonder if folks even realize what He actually did accomplish - they may be surprised.

I know they will be surprised at what He has not yet finished!

Life eternal in the gospels; is it spoken of differently from Paul? No, not differently, however, it is spoken of in a more excellent way - the way of God more perfectly!

We only cover verses 1 & 2 - but there sure was a lot of material in those two verses FOR us to learn from.

Praying posture for us today?
Glorify the Father by the Son?
Those given to Jesus by the Father?

Yes, there is a lot in these two verses for us to learn from - and some to be admonished, as well, if you are ready!

Gospel of John 16:16-33

Note from Pastor Mike:
Finally finishing chapter 16, we see how Jesus puts the final touches on one of the most important issues of His day - whether or not He was come from and of God, etc. We see that Deity is still an issue today as all the modern bibles seek to destroy the Deity of Christ.

How did the disciples handle the truth when they finally said they 'believe?' The same way we act with our KJB today when we say we believe but yet forsake it when we most need it.

Gospel of John 16:8-15

Note from Pastor Mike:
We see in this part of John 16 Jesus' warning to the Disciples about the Great Commission and the persecution that will come. We see the purpose of the Comforter - we see the reason for suffering then and yet, we can surely see that the same applies to us today only as a result of the King James Bible.

Fortunately, we don't have to worry about God's wrath - but even as the wrath of man can be still be very difficult, we still should have no sorrow over the very words of the Risen Christ through Paul anymore than the disciples should have had over the words of the earthly Jesus to them.

We continue to see what it meant in the gospel days to 'believe;' we see what Jesus says about Judgment.

We also learn what it meant to follow Jesus during the Gospels compared to how we are to follow Jesus today.
